That reminds me of a “game” kids would (try) to play when I was young at school. The kids would say to do just that “bend over, take a deep breath” and the other one would try to lift them up really quickly. I never saw it work. I guess you were supposed to pass out. Idk

4·7 months agoFor funsies I looked up when I invited someone to Gmail:

Not sure exactly when my account was made but obviously before then! Also check out the generous one gig of storage space
I agree with you (and also somewhat with the other people, too)
I want to keep some accounts completely separate from my other accounts, and also don’t want to set up a whole other set of accounts to keep them separate
E.g., on Reddit I would keep certain conversations on reddit only (but used a 3rd party app mostly so I never saw the chats, just dm/pms)

41·10 months agoI’ve got no input for the post because I came here from all, but I just wanted to say I love that picture! It’s got some awesome vibes to it; I’m not too into ttrpgs but that’s a theme that’s right up my alley! Good luck with developing your world. It looks like you’ve got a great start
About 20 years ago
I went to my family Christmas with my then-partner. I got a Grinch onesie from my family
We then attended my partner’s family Christmas where basically the entire living room was stuffed with presents for the kids (my partner and their siblings). My then-partner complained about how they all got more $$ worth of presents. I pointed out that I got a pair of pjs for Christmas. The reply: “it’s not about the dollar amount, it’s just they got more than me” (paraphrased)
I hated that present. A fucking onesie? It was such a disappointing present, and for a long time I used it as an example for questions just like this
I kept it and wore it. Eventually I lost the bitterness and started to cherish it even. Which is why I still wear it regularly this time of year! It’s quite warm… plus, it has pockets!

Technology@lemmy.world•Why I regret using 23andMe: I gave up my DNA just to find out I’m British | Technology | The GuardianEnglish
2·1 year agoI’m very sorry I didn’t think of this context. I wasn’t being daft intentionally, it just didn’t occur to me when I was trying to figure out the situation
I can understand now. Thank you for sharing and gently explaining the situation
(I’m also very, very sorry to have implied your mother had cheated in that scenario. I did not mean to cast shade on her character)

1010·1 year agoThat would indicate your mom cheated as well? Not sure exactly what your dad cheating has to do with your DNA. Wouldn’t it be better to find out he wasn’t your dad if he was so shitty?

Technology@lemmy.world•The Onion buys rightwing conspiracy theory site Infowars with plans to make it ‘very funny, very stupid’English
11·1 year agoA part of me actually wished that the Onion would have purchased InfoWars, but in secret, like maybe under a subsidiary corp that has a right-wing sounding name.
"Today we celebrate a new addition to the Global Tetrahedron LLC family of brands. "
don’t change Infowars’ branding
"Founded in 1999 … InfoWars has distinguished itself as an invaluable tool for brainwashing and controlling the masses.
…
InfoWars has shown an unswerving commitment to manufacturing anger and radicalizing the most vulnerable members of society—values that resonate deeply with all of us at Global Tetrahedron.
No price would be too high for such a cornucopia of malleable assets and minds. … a steep bargain: less than one trillion dollars."
I’m absolutely not disagreeing with you; I believe the onion will continue on doing “its thing” and keeping on-brand for both entities. Do exactly what you say and publish articles either believable or outlandish enough to break through to people

Privacy@lemmy.ml•PasswordCard - A interesting option for analog password managers
4·2 years agoIt’s an interesting idea. I’m not here really to give my input either way, but I just wanted to note on my client, the animation is a static image and when tap on it I get this message:

It’s not an issue, but it ends up opening the in-app browser and from there plays as a video
Also, the app has some info it includes when trying to open files, not sure if it’s useful:

It’s not a big deal at all and if you don’t care I apologize for wasting your time. But people here seem to like puzzling out little issues on the fediverse.
Thanks again for the original post, though! It’s a fun approach

Absolutely one of my favorite james acaster quotes! His whole Netflix special, “Repertoire” is just fantastic

I’m glad nothing went awry. I was always skeptical about it because no one figured it out. It’s crazy what we do especially as kids with our innocent bliss
