Anyway to answer you question, CRISPR gene editing is revolutionary and will have major impact.
Nah, crispr is a useful tool that will have an impact, and it has already been revolutionary in lab environments, but it doesn’t have much more to offer. There will be a few more medicines that use it and I’m sure someone will call it a revolution, but cell therapies will truly revolutionize medicine – which in fairness to AI will be enabled by generative protein design.
My mentor will probably win a Nobel prize in four or five years for the immunotherapy work he’s doing as it’ll have a big impact on a lot of cancers, but it still won’t be as big as cell therapies.

Let’s not perpetuate the idea that industry develops most technology. It’s all built off academia, which is funded by taxes. At best industry swoops in the last few steps and scales it up. That’s necessary and even good, but it’s not worth destroying the rest of the world over – particularly when that includes academic research.

Neither the United States, nor any constituent states, nor any of their constituent counties (to my knowledge) qualify as electoral democracies. I’m aware of no election system [that’s currently in use] meeting the condorcet criterion and providing a None/Lottery option. [This how the government was set up.]
You cannot claim consent of the governed if the governed cannot say no.

Yeah, I think there are two problems. One issue is that they profile users both for ads and manipulative algorithmic content, and I’d like them to profile me incorrectly in most cases (except like they are less likely to try to sell people on linux things, that’s a great thing I’d like to keep in the profile). The other issue is that they follow individual users using this fingerprinting, again this can be used both to sell things and to manipulate, but it’s a tad creepier since it tracks how you’re unique even compared to people superficially similar to you.
Ideally, I’d like some extension where I can look at values and either keep them, set them, or randomize them.

I definitely have misleading information on there, which is great, but I probably need more.

I’m getting real tired of the escalating corporate-mediated fascism.

General, assuming you think most will enable federation in due time. I’m just looking for the most appropriate place to join with.

Oh, my bad. I was confused. I assumed ActivityPub was some specific sub-app rather than a general communication protocol. That makes sense. Would still be good to get a list of instances.

Love the idea of a federated github, but I could only find this list of instances, and from my basic test it looks like the search doesn’t bring up projects from other instances? Unless I’m doing something wrong.
You can version control a txt file or svg file, and they won’t fail to compile. I mean, Idk what your process is maybe you’re using IDEs that make it less painful than what I experienced, but the extensive control you supposedly have requires a lot more knowledge than LibreWriter.
I do most things in txt and svg then move them into libre writer and export the PDF. LaTeX is good to generate math images, but otherwise it’s too much work for things that really only need to be good enough.
