  • I loved FrontPage. You could whip up a site in no time. The code it created was a disaster, but to be fair it worked fine.

I’d often use a WUSSYWAGON editor like FrontPage to make up a design and see how it looked, then just redo it by hand (or at least MAJORLY edit it) in Notepad so it wasn’t spaghetti.

I made a site for my dad’s business in FrontPage (then edited in Notepad) back in the very early 00s and hosted it on the 5MB of web space provided by the dialup provider at the time. It’s still there and exactly the same, though I had to move it to another provider in the late 00s when the ISP went bust. It’s gonna outlive him, and possibly me.

  • I’ve been using FX File Explorer since 2012. It’s straight up the best file manager on Android, especially when you use SMB and SFTP. Multi window makes moving things around easy as, and the built in text editor works a treat. Being able to share images from apps to FX’s “Save As” option is awesome to. It means every app can save where you want.

No idea why it isn’t more popular compared to the alternatives.

  • I use to get a “trk special” at the local takeaway - they literally added it to their menu board because I got it so frequently and other people who heard also got it.

It was three pieces of bread, all the salads (tomato, lettuce, carrot, onion, cucumber, beetroot) and aioli sauce on the bottom, then a spicy kebana sliced horizontally with a heap of pepper sauce and a slice of cheese on the top layer. Quick toast with butter so the outer slices gave a tiny bit of crisp and the cheese starts to sag and voila.

Another one they added to their menu board was the “xxxx trucks special” which was named after a local business. All the apprentices there used to buy this one because it was cheap and filling. It was a fresh toasted hotdog roll, with a sausage roll instead of a sausage, and a heap of butter and tomato sauce.
