I always think that Vista was alright, it just took a bullet for every version of Windows that followed. It introduced overdue changes to many long-standing Windows conventions, changes that still stand now. If Windows 7 had been the next one after XP then everyone would have hated that instead.

There’s various contractual reasons they may say this but ultimately they probably can’t tell. Those terms and conditions don’t count for anything and can’t be enforced because no reasonable reads them. I’d just go ahead with using your router and wait for somebody to say something (feign ignorance).

Fedora is a great game for the price of the game and the game is great for the price and the game itself is great for the game.

Most of the time a company does something like this they would just let it die. It’s good that Microsoft have at least made the effort to hand it over to a team who’s willing to keep it going.

I’ve seen this on a few sites. They aren’t even allowed to make rejecting cookies more difficult than accepting them but right now the legal people are trying to educate before they starting enforcing these rules. I expect the lawyers at the Mirror know that this is illegal but think they can get away with it.

All those things like having to “customise” your cookies to turn them all off, and “legitimate interest” is all illegal under the rules but they’re trying their luck.

People should be scared, this kind of thing will likely be normal eventually. It’s amazing how quick people just become normalised to shit like this. I remember a Reddit post about Angry Birds 2 where someone had posted a picture of it requiring an internet connection to play and then had just written “Uninstalled” beneath it; now like 80% of the free games out there require an internet connection to work. We could have Netflix that’s half the price and included password sharing, we could have all games working offline, and so much more, but there’s so many people out there simping for these corporations that don’t give a fuck about them.

I hate Windows for all the monetisation and privacy issues but I never really had problems with it killing my computer.

I order from there quite a lot. I’m not really a fan of buying Chinese stuff but all the electronics are made there whatever you do and this way I’m cutting out the man-in-the-middle dickhead types who closed all the local factories and moved production to China just to push up the share prices.

I’ve always found it to be pretty good, remember that you don’t really deal with Ali that much, rather individual shops selling their stuff on there. I’ve had problems with stuff arriving broken before but I’ve usually found their customer service to be pretty amazing, they’ll often replace stuff without much fuss. I once ordered a Bitcoin miner before realising later that it was a scam, and Ali refunded me all the money.

The two main problems are that nothing on there is good quality, it’s all just cheap Chinese stuff. The second problem is that it takes ages for everything to arrive.

Honestly, off the top of my head I often like the people who come to England but as far as the country itself I don’t really think about it much. First thoughts are that it’s a massive country that’s heavily polluted and kinda obsessed with making money without much care for how they do it, such as how much of the world is making sacrifices to stop buying gas from Russia but India’s just undermining their good intentions for profit. I think if Pakistan invaded they’d expect the whole world to rally around them.

If people ever wonder why people don’t use Linux they should just read the comments here. People are so obsessed with blaming users for not using Linux rather than trying to make Linux meet their expectations.

Most people will go to a shop and buy a laptop with Windows preinstalled and ready to be used, and even if they’re brave enough to install the OS themselves (most aren’t) they will still expect pretty much everything to work automatically after the install.

I don’t know what the solution is here but it’s not to blame users.

I used it around the time of Epic Fail Guy and barrel rolls. It was fun for a while but I eventually realised that it was the same jokes and content going around again and again. Then someone posted a spoiler for Bioshock and I was done with it.

As for tech answers it’s probably about as reliable as an AI. I wouldn’t expect people to generally lie to you but there would be the occasional bit of bullshit from some troll from /b/. I’m sure you’ll get abuse if people think you’re being stupid, probably worse than a Linux forum.

Tbf I’m okay with a lot of this stuff as long as it stays local on your own PC and you have control over it. However I don’t trust MS to implement it in a way that doesn’t prioritise their profits over my privacy.

The author argues that you don’t need to use the terminal but constantly argues that you should. The average computer user doesn’t even know which version of Windows they’re using. Many don’t even know if they’re using Windows or Mac. Until Linux gets over the obsession with the terminal we’re never going to have the year of Linux.
