  • He tweeted “Her”, which explicitly tells us it’s a deliberate imitation of Scarlett’s voice in that movie. And he tried to negotiate licencing her famous voice, which she rejected.

    So it’s more than just a coincidence, it’s deliberate bad faith behaviour. Legally you can’t misrepresent a product as being from a famous person when it wasn’t, and he very much did that. I guess he was hoping she’d give in and accept the licensing agreement post-facto. But instead it looks he’s in legal deep water now.

    The Oxford Dictionary says:

    Sex is the biological category, whereas gender is the culturally shaped expression of sexual difference: the masculine way in which men should behave and the feminine way in which women should behave.

    So since it’s people talking about the biological male/femaleness they’re literally imposing cultural values on it right there, which I think qualifies as gendering.

    I guarantee management was rushing this product out the door to meet deadlines without adequate testing and without running a pilot program. That’s the only way this could realistically happen.

    I suspect this one falls squarely on management. But I bet they didn’t take the blame.
