I recently revisited The 100 and was curious how other science fiction fans view it today. What began as a survival story gradually evolved into a series that explored leadership, morality, artificial intelligence, tribalism, and the consequences of difficult choices. While some seasons were stronger than others, I thought the show consistently raised interesting ethical questions and gave several characters meaningful development throughout its run. For those who have watched it, which season was your favorite, which character had the best arc, and how do you think the series compares to other modern sci-fi television shows?
I really enjoyed it when it was airing. I don’t know if I’d enjoy a rewatch today, because the writing is rough in several places.
I feel its kind of similar to agents of shield where they outlived their original plan and had to adapt and come up with new plot arcs (and I think it shows, in both series). Though, I think their forced adaptions created some of the best new and interesting sci-fi concept explorations to come to TV for a while.
I’m also a sucker for “then it got worse” type shows, where the characters are struggling and doing their best to improve their situation, but every step forward is followed by being pushed a couple steps back through no fault of their own.
All that being said, I like S2 of The 100 best. S1 of the show is probably up there, starting after

. I think once that happens, its clear this is not a typical CW show.
It was good for a couple seasons, even though it was completely unbelievable in so many ways. Total trash science sci fi. I watched it all to see out it would end, even though it kept getting worse.
I liked it from the moment one of the kids jumped into the water and I thought “you didn’t know whats in there!” and then they got eaten by some kind of water creature. I even liked the very crazy and more scifi final season (or was it two?)
Not a high brow/hard scifi show, but fun
it fits into the slot of not bad to watch if nothing else is on.
I honestly enjoyed the show and watching it when it aired. With the exception of the last few seasons of it.
I feel it should’ve ended when they found their new planet instead of the weird story arc they made there though.
