🎉 My open-source downloader extension is now “Recommended by Mozilla” !
Great news! Mozilla reached out and my free and #opensource #browserextension , “Media Downloader Unleashed!!”, to download audio and videos is now listed as recommended by #Mozilla !
It’s a great personal achievement! When I started working on it out of frustration that you can’t right click and save videos on Android, I never expected it would reach above 13k users and become recommended by Mozilla!! Thanks to everyone who uses it! I hope it will continue to work and improve for the years to come! :blobcatheart:
✨THANK YOU!✨

(Note : If you want to try it on Android, it looks like a recent Firefox update broke downloading, use the Nightly or Beta app!)
Congratulations, I’ll check later on the pc.
@helloyanis Thank you for the great addon I have been using for a long time.
@Waehlscheibe @mozilla @opensource Awesome, I’m glad you enjoy it! 🦊
That’s pretty cool I used to have a extension called get them all which was a little bit suspect looking and it stopped working eventually but it was great for pretty much exactly this functionality
So is this like Video Download Helper but FOSS? If so, I will look to switch.
@Fmstrat Pretty much. Some parts of Video Download Helper are FOSS but it needs an extra app, as for mine it all runs locally within the add-on while needing less permissions and working on Android too!
Sometimes it’s a bit more quirky with detection (I haven’t tried VDH much) but it’s completely free!
Great to hear, thanks.
Ok, great, thanks! But what has the internet come to, that you need to detect videos.
@MonkderVierte Well, for streams for example they don’t store the entire video in a single file which can be good. If you only watch half of the video for example it will not load the second half (so saves on data) and it can be played even if it’s not entirely loaded.
But playing these types of files offline is pretty tricky that’s why I tried to make the process easier!
Yeah i know, the .m3u8 thing. Was just lamenting the state (or rather state-less-nes) of the internet.
Wow, Congratulation!
I searched a media downloader a while ago for android, and this works! Thanks for creating it!
Looks promising! Will be installing it when I’m at my pc
@ComradePedro Awesome! It works on Android too!
I have been using it for the past few months!
Works like a charm. Keep it up!@skeesx wow! A long time user! Thanks!!
If you like it, you can (but don’t have to) leave a rating! 🦊
I had to do a double take after seeing this post. Like, wait a second…that’s the one I’m using!

Done :)
Wow, congratulations on your achievement! I’m not quite sure what your extension refers to :P
Sadly all of the links are 404’ing from my end at PieFed
…why is piefed changing the links at all?
they’re removing the tankies from the links, damn tankies
the tankies are in links now? lol
We’re everywhere

did piefed resurrect tesseract to block tankies in the links now? lol
Because they are authoritarian dweebs that hate the open web.
piefed is going to piefed. lol
For some reason there’s a “?utm_source=fedi-share” tacked on the end. Try this link
Congratulations!
Cool.
@helloyanis @opensource Gratulon! :gutkato_hura:
@tirifto @opensource Dankon!! 🦊🎉

@ChicoSuave Thanks!! :blobcatheart:
I hope you enjoy it!
