my family has meta quests
they like supernatural and an app the puts images on walls i dont know the apps name
do you have recommendations for vr headsets that are private but convient for normal people?
You can now root all Meta glasses https://github.com/Lumince/singularity/releases/
You can also, without root, use Termux letting you install a local server on the device itself, use adb to start the browser on a WebXR page running on it, etc.
So it’s possible to make it work and entirely offline, no Meta account, no app, all this without privacy concerns but that does require to tinker a bit.

in itself no… but as you typically end up doing more stuff, have things in the background, etc probably a bit.
Valve still collects data about you, so SteamVR isn’t truly private.
If privacy matters to you, look for a PC tethered headset that runs on open source software, so you can avoid telemetry and closed ecosystems
VR is expensive, you either pay with money, or pay with your private data (this is why meta vr is so cheap).
However, I like my HP reverb G2. You can pick these up second hand for basically nothing, under $200.
Microsoft ended support for windows mixed reality with windows 11, but there is a driver on steam that makes it work. Major downside is Linux support is not good. But if you’re using windows, that would be my good cheap recommendation.

If you are on linux most of them don’t have great support (refer to the linux vr adventures wiki)
or buy psvr2 which needs an adapter to work on pc

All VR is expensive still. Meta quest only goes as low as 650 USD because they subsidize it by spying on you so much.
The Quest 3s is $350 USD.
I must admit I forgot about the 3S. The same idea still applies, though. It’s only affordable because of the spying. Plus it’s got a lower resolution and fresnel lenses like the Quest 2, but that’s probably not as big an issue as people make it out to be.

There’s forums where low effort is accepted but they seem to be the exception rather than the norm.
It could also be that everyone is on a witch hunt for ai agents and posing as a child is a great way to get away with doing agent shit.

I believe myself to be a kind and thoughtful person who earnestly tries to help others but it doesn’t always come across that way to them, especially in text.
I’m afraid you might be experiencing the same thing I do. While it’s incredibly clear to you what you’re asking about in the post titled simply “good vr?” with two short sentences for a body that give no indication what you’re actually asking or hoping to accomplish or under what constraints, it’s basically indecipherable to other people.
People reading what you write don’t know what you know, and can’t know unless you tell them. It can be a lot of work to do that, but people use that work to judge how serious you are about getting their help and for that reason you will get more and better quality help if you take the time to write out clearly what you want.
The people who have lots of experience will also be able to understand what you want and be able to use their experience to help you instead of just ignoring your incomprehensible requests.
A long time ago when irc was the norm for linux support chat there were very explicit rules about asking for help intended to curb people logging on and asking “it doesn’t work, what do!” At the time I struggled to adapt to the extremely formal constraints placed upon me when asking for help in that medium. Now, with the ability to analyze and describe problems myself I can quickly get assistance in that medium (and still do, I used irc help to resolve an issue last week) on the off chance that my problem solving skills don’t cut the mustard.
You are able to simply blast out quick posts but you may find that taking a little more time nets you better results :)
