        But then you lose great puns, which are half the reason English is such a great language. Consider “American Idiot”:

        Welcome to a new kind of tension All across the alien nation Where everything isn’t meant to be okay.

        The song works significantly better by using a pun, to say that it’s a nation of the alienated.
