Never heard of OpenWRT before, is it nice?
Linux based embedded router OS. Yes, it’s nice.
If only there was some sort of movement of gracious people willing to donate their expertise and time to write software and allow the users to fully control it by giving away the source code. That’d fix everything!
But… but… then you’d have to think about what you’re doing and *gasp* develop a basic understanding of the technology that runs your life! Who has time for that nerd shit?
Not everyone has that aptitude. It isn’t always a matter of motivation.
To be fair, some people are burnt out to degrees most of humanity struggles to comprehend. Of course, there are always the lazy butts; HOWEVER, you cannot generalize at all.
So basically, if you’re sawing trees with a blunt saw and somebody suggests sharpening the saw, you’ll say “I can’t, I got trees to cut!”?
Almost.
Imagine youre cutting trees with an axe and someone tells you theres a tool out there that can do it better, but you have to learn how to use it to become efficient with it. And you dont have time to learn new tool because capitalism says you have to have that tree cut down right now.
That may have been true for Linux 10 years ago, but now it is easier to install than Windows, and much faster to install. It may mean the axe handle is a different colour, but it chops the same or better.
faster and easier to install
Youre assuming youre talking to someone who installs their OS and doesnt open a box with an OS already installed
As soon as Windows is installed, Microsoft owns the computer.
It want from “My Computer” to “This PC”.
It is somewhat ironic they’re showing a Mac in that shot… did Office even run on them at that stage of the game.
I was hoping nobody would notice they were macs when I made this because the image was too funny not to use…
