It was 14 years between those games. It’s a good mechanic that deserved to be dusted off. There were a bunch of other Spiderman games between them that didn’t do it. The Insomniac Spiderman had better everything else too, people really forget what that old Spider-Man 2 game was like outside of the swinging mechanics.


HL2’s airboat and vehicle sections weren’t on-rails like this. You could get out and explore at any point with all the mechanics available to you. They even made it into a gigantic wave defense set piece for the final battle at the end of Episode 2.


Been happening across many public trackers, and I’ve even seen it happen in Funfile. Best to filter out .lnk, .exe, and .zipx filetypes from your download client.
