It makes me feel a little better about myself seeing the New York Times communication department make a typo in a post
Mildly reclusive American living in Europe.
Tends to get truculent about movies, music, the Oxford comma, and politics

California said they work with manufacturers when they are out of compliance, but brought their lawsuit because VW wouldn’t cooperate
I don’t know. I go to news portals or aggregates or feeds for news. Do people actually just type “news” into Google? I suppose for specific events, but I could actually see it being true that news searches weren’t making up much of the activity. The way it’s going to be is subscription based or publicly funded for anything worthwhile
I think it’s problematic to require an organization to do something and then charge for it. It’s one thing if they do something of their own volition and then are required to pay
I think they’re setting up to negotiate not paying. I don’t think people should depend on Google to provide a social good at their cost
This was more a stunt because France is demanding Google pay to link to news sites. It’s the opposite of whether search engines should be required to list them
Just my two cents: I’ve had occasional problems with games through steam on dual monitors. Things like losing mouse focus or changing resolution on the other monitor (though that hasn’t happened for a long time).
Monitors are old Asus. I won’t bother looking up the models as I’m sure they’re outdated

They should have left subtitles up transcripting everything

I’ll probably continue to call it Denali, because it’s just a name.
raef@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Mexican President Threatens to Sue Google Over 'Gulf of America' Label on Maps.English1·5 months agoYou conflate not agreeing with not reading, because if someone reads your posts, they have to agree, right? So if someone doesn’t agree, it simply means they didn’t read your post.
If names mean so much, what about naming things after slave owners? Tell me how many slaves were at Mt Vernon? History has very few perfect saints.
But back to the Gulf. It’s just not worth it. Call it what you want. It’ll revert one way or another eventually

raef@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Mexican President Threatens to Sue Google Over 'Gulf of America' Label on Maps.English2·5 months agoI’m not ignoring it. I’m saying it’s just a name. I will continue to call it the Gulf of Mexico for the rest of my life, or probably just “the Gulf”. I never used another term for French fries, # is still a pound sign, and I’m not going to worry about this.
