Mint, judge me
PS anyone have any favorite resources for absolute tech illiterate noobs? I’m trying, but without a baseline understanding of the subject, it’s hard to find the right guides

I was looking at the all-time ratio, not any individual torrent, but yeah OP can collect their two golds and a silver whenever they want

You get a silver medal when you hit a 1.0 ratio, and a gold medal when you hit 2.0
Based. As time goes on we rely more and more on the few who keep seeding long past the 1.0 ratio to keep a show alive. The rights to a show may change hands a dozen times before it becomes available to watch legally without spending tens of dollars on a used 20 year old disc that may or may not still work
? I’m not defending anyone, I’m calling out bullshit when I see it
I don’t really care that you like watching kids through their bedroom windows or whatever
If that doesn’t accurately describe your views, no worries—I said “or whatever,” so it’s fine
If you didn’t want to put words in someone’s mouth then you shouldn’t have said something like
You actually believe Microsoft will launch this and then everybody will be hacked or something.
He also has a habit of making videos that are just long ads, like that self-driving car, or that shampoo
Sharing users’ mental health information with advertisers and connecting LGBT users with Christian faith-based therapists are the two big issues I’m aware of
The electricity one wasn’t so much him being wrong as it was him being really bad at communicating that one point
70% of the market. Half of those computers can’t even run windows 11. Good to see Microsoft taking charge in the fight against the environment by asking tens of millions of people to throw away their perfectly good computers and buy new ones
At least K has something to do with Kleenex. It’s more like buying Coca-Cola and changing it to J
Okay, but you don’t win lawsuits based on how the law ought to be
Imagine spending 40 billion dollars on one of the most recognizable brands in history, so deeply embedded in the public consciousness that any other company would throw virgins into a volcano for a chance at that level of recognition, just to replace all of that branding with your own little name that everyone has been telling you sounds stupid for the last 25 years
That still doesn’t fully erase the data though. It just tells the computer that that space on the drive is available to be overwritten, but the 1s and 0s are still recoverable
Imo there should be options for standard deletion and total deletion. Standard is faster, puts less wear on the drive, and keeps the files potentially recoverable, whole total would make it totally unrecoverable at the expense of taking slightly longer and putting a bit more wear on the drive
I mean that’s what is happening if the phone used to belong to someone else
So proton will only give users’ information to governments if the government calls the user a terrorist. Good thing governments don’t just throw that word around willy-nilly!
Yeah let’s encourage citizens to report their neighbors for every legal offense, this kind of thing has always gone well throughout history
Say, I’m pretty sure I saw you invite a couple folks into your home the other day, and I never saw them come out. Oh would you look at that, the SS is here!
Similarities to fascism aside, this is still an awful idea. Have you ever dealt with automated rule enforcement? It’s an awful way to enforce rules. But even if every single report had a human follow up on it, there’s also massive, unprecedented privacy issues. You may be totally fine with my insurance company knowing where I am 24/7, but I sure as hell am not. I’m super not okay with a government (which we have) gaining free access to that information for anything they want (which they would). Oh hey, we’re back to fascism
Use old.reddit as long as you’re able to. Don’t even need to log in (at least where I live), you just hit the “I’m 18” button
That’s the thing, I don’t know enough to know what to even ask. So far I’ve been able to follow step-by-step instructions for installing Mint and downloading software, but I don’t know what I’m doing at all.
One example of something I spent hours on is adding Cura to the panel. I finally got that done while I was writing this comment by following AndyMH’s answer here.
Now, I can read
And I can do that. I have no idea what PATH is or why I want to do that, but I can do it. And I can look it up, and I’m sure I’ll eventually get to a point where all of this makes sense to me, but I feel kind of helpless when I have to look up multiple terms every time I want to do something as simple as adding an application to the panel
