You have never worked in IT or an enterprise level job,
Nice assumption. I do work in IT. And Ironically use WSL2 on Windows because my employer only provides Windows laptops but my tech stack requires Linux.
I have installed Linux for family members who have no IT background. They were fine as long as the browser icon and the start menu started the same.
But if you do work in IT then you know how people use technology.
And my entire argument is the regular user doesn’t know how to do most things on a computer.
You have installed Linux for family, if not for your help, would you family be using Linux?
Could they have installed it alone, and maintain whatever distor they were using, without help?

No they wouldn’t. Then again, they don’t know how to install Wndows themselves either. So it’s a moot point. Just like they know how to use their Android phone but don’t know how to install it.
It’s not a moot point because unless people are explicitly looking for a Linux pre-installed PC, every pre built computer/laptop has a pre installed OS. If people are building their own PC, then there is a very high chance they know how to install a OS.
You don’t need to know how to install a OS on a fresh pre built system when it is already installed.
Again, why bring up Anriod OS? It comes pre-installed, and 99% of people will use the same OS and let Andriod maintain itself, infact, unlike computers, changing or modifying your Andriod OS most likely will result in warranty being revoked, and on top of that, changing your OS/bootloader on andriod is MUCH harder then installing Windows. I’d even say it’s harder then installing most Linux distros.

Well apologize if my assumption was wrong.
