i usually avoid flatpaks, especially with steam. but every now and then my non-flatpak steam borks too and won’t launch on mint. 9 times out of 10 simple reboot helps, but sometimes it requires a reinstall…

it’s useless. test it out with creepjs
they removed the comment section now 😅

and it’s fucking annoying to check the box to “prove you’re a human” when trying to access almost any site. some days it will make me do it three times before letting me through

my favorite is diodon. available at least in ubuntu / mint, couldn’t find in fedora

oh, always thought it was an x11 issue and affected AMD too. well anyway he’s broke and he got a high-end nvidia gpu for next to nothing so I’m not going to even try to convince him to get another gpu

here’s a challenge: diodon plugins in github

my buddy wanted to switch from w10 to mint and i tried to recommend kubuntu because of wayland, i told him mint will be laggy because he has many screens with different refresh rates and mint can’t handle that. he wouldn’t listen, installed mint, and a few weeks later went back to w10 raging how linux suxx it’s so laggy. could’ve just installed kubuntu but no, it had to be w10.
installed fedora cinnamon on my grandparent’s laptop a few days ago and got a friend turned from 10 to mint. been using mint on my gaming rig, server and media PCs for over two years. also wife requested mint on her laptop, so no windblows devices left in the house then

the unmovable files are swap and hiber files, there are tutorials on how to delete those

hdmi 2.0 doesn’t have the bandwidth for 4k120, displayport and hdmi 2.1 do. amd drivers don’t have hdmi 2.1 driver, because the hdmi forum didn’t allow amd to use it in their open source linux driver. you still get 4k120 with dp and even on hdmi if you use limited colorspace

yes, but TVs don’t have DP

yes, HDMI 2.1. if you use a tv as a monitor, you won’t get 4k120 with amd cards on linux because hdmi forum is assholes
the worst issues I’ve had with Ubuntu or Ubuntu based distros were little hickups like not being able to suspend and rebooting fixed it. but what you’re describing was my experience with fedora every single time i tried it… which is a shame because fedora works so much smoother with heavier tasks
I wouldn’t touch intel GPUs. saw a comparison video a few months ago and intel arc linux performance was like half of what it was on windows. I have a laptop with intel integrated graphics and it can play some games on windows no problem, but it can’t do shit on linux. seriously it can’t even run btd6…

my kb came with mac keys too so i replaced win key with command, i hate it less
I saw people recommending keychrons, went and bought one thinking I made a smart choice. didn’t even google what kind of issues they have… I’ll remember next time I’m about to throw money at some random crap that a few people recommend.
the dumbest reason was that they hate penquins, but the one you can’t argue with is that they don’t need to because it does all they need it to do
