I hope this “AI” knows what language is used in songs. Sometimes I like to listen to songs in certain language (usually the one I’m actually learning). The potential use case would be to create a playlist with songs of certain language and genre I like.

As for now, it turns out it’s incredibly hard to do. For example even if you find, say, popular French song and use option to “find similar” then algorithm usually finds either songs with similar genre or even french songs but sang in English.

and DO NOT DEFINITELY pay for journalist’s work, because he certainly do not need to pay taxes, rent and will happily write articles for you free of charge and paywall is just to make you mad

Stack Exchange. I know, controversial, as people complain about rules being there too strict and community not being too welcoming nowadays, but still a real goldmine of knowledge. All of that with no ads, no spam, no dark patterns.

Even if you go to Europe (where I live), you will still listen to American music, read news about America everywhere, eat American crap food, use American Internet services, watch American TV shows. It is not easy to leave America :D

I wish there was something like this for tags. So: display only posts that contain tag X, but sort them with some algorithm. Ideally: steered by number of likes and date of adding. May be even the same that is used by Lemmy.

Usefulness really comes down to which model is being used. I’ve noticed most developers choose GPT for Copilot because that’s what they are familiar with (or they often don’t have a choice due to company policy). I recommend to try Claude Sonnet. How it works is true magic.

But I agree, repetitive tasks is what it should be used for. Planning is still programmer’s job

Please add some context for someone not up to date with all that jargon. There is a trend here and on hacker news to just post a model name that says basically nothing and I often just don’t even know why I should care. Or maybe I shouldn’t?

If something works, don’t change it. And GitHub, not being ideal, works pretty well.

2. Newelle seem to run commands in virtualized environment and asks user every time it runs any command. So you are 100% aware of what happens. You might as well run rm -rf * by hand by accident.

Wow, I’ve just tried it and it’s really solid. Lightweight, feature rich (RAG, voice input, command virtualization, custom extensions), interface is just clean… I don’t think other platforms have an alternative that can compete with that for now, which is not an usual situation in terms of GUI software on Linux. Good job

Guys, it’s a TOOL. Every tool is both useful and harmful. It’s up to you how you use it.

I’m reading comments on arstechnica and seeing people mad at… what exactly?

The reason I go to web search is to answer my questions. Now it’s given to me at once, without need to go anywhere. Is it sometimes hallucinating? Of course it is, but have you really 100% trusted information on the Internet before anyways? I haven’t.

You say that ads driven websites are going to stop receiving money. But have you really liked ads driven websites? The same ones whose main incentive is to keep you on the website as long as possible or, in fact, wasting as much your time as possible to sell it to ad companies? The ones that were really worth visiting already changed their business model.

I believe the point of this article is not to convince everyone to fire all it’s accounting staff and start relying on LLMs.

The point is to develop a measure of how well they can handle complex problems.

I was talking mostly about side projects. I don’t have much time for them right now. Thanks to LLMs, I can spend those few hours a week on doing instead of reading what is the best way to do X in ever changing world of web front-end frameworks. I just sit down, ask: “how is it usually done?”, tweak it a bit and finish.

Example: I have published an app on flathub a while ago. Doing it from scratch is damn complicated. “Screw it” is what I would say in pre LLMs era after a few hours ;)
