Funny how when you let conservatives have power your rights start being infringed upon.

Anyway, I wonder how Palestine is doing.

Honestly dude, I cannot fucking believe people thought Trump would be better for Palestine than Kamala… I just don’t fucking understand how so many people can come to that conclusion, unless I really think about it, and then the reasons are all so sad and stupid. I swear to god the main reason, above racism, above hate, above the propaganda of the election cycle, the main reason he won over Hillary and then Kamala is that he had a TV show for many years. A lot of people over look the simple fact that in the American psyche, being on TV is validating, or at least it was when Trump was elected, before everything went upside down. People will stay in the same shitty town and keep the same toxic relatives in their lives for their wholes lives vs finding people that they actually harmonize with because they’re familiar. People who grew up in shitty households find partners like their shitty parents because the shitty behavior is familiar. “Familiar” feels like family. Trump was a household name, and some people didn’t even know Kamala had been swapped in half way through the election season. So they trusted Trump when he’d lie because he’s familiar, but they distrusted her when she seemed to avoid a subject because she’s unfamiliar and so inherently suspicious. They should have both been suspicious af, but he had a TV show and was president once before so they trusted him more… which is very fucking stupid.

Few did. Those of us who knew that people would stay home because of it tried to warn everyone that if Harris didn’t change course, she would lose. Centrists didn’t want to hear any of it. They either didn’t believe us or didn’t care because they wanted genocide so badly that they were willing to accept trump.

And I fully expect someone to reply to this by trying to convince me to vote for her even though I did and the election is over.

Lot of easily manipulated assholes out there. Many of them are right here on Lemmy. Still clutching their pearls. To be fair, most didn’t vote for Trump, but they didn’t vote or voted for a non-starter 3rd party candidate, which is basically giving their blessing to Trump. It’s proof they never really cared about Palestine. Just their own personal satisfaction. If they cared they would have done the thing that hurt Palestine the least. But they didn’t.

but he had a TV show

Remember all the dipshits leading up to the 2016 election saying “he’ll run it like his businesses” because they were totally unaware how many businesses he’d driven into the ground and how many bankruptcies he’d had? Yeah, lot of stupids out there.

Except Holocaust Harris would’ve lost even if she received literally every single third-party vote, even including Libertarians who usually swing right.

But when have basic facts like elementary-level math ever stopped Blue MAGA?

EDIT: Downvotes also don’t change basic math 🕴🏻

Basic math or not, you failed to respond to the actual claim and thus failed basic logic yourself. It wasn’t just third party votes, the poster also included those that stayed home because of this profoundly bad idea that not voting for Harris would lead to anything good.

            Found one of the idiots.

Hey chode. Do you think that all these 3rd party voting dipshits knew their pointless 3rd party vote wouldn’t end up making the difference when they did it?

Of couse not. Because they don’t possess a fucking time machine.

So do you think it’s a valid excuse, AFTER THE FACT, to say they’re exonnerated of their incredibly stupid decision because, as luck would have it, it ended up not making the difference?

That’s like saying someone who shot someone else should get off the hook because it ended up not killing them and they’ll make a recovery. It’s a stupid fucking thing to say and your parents would be ashamed if they knew their child lacked any and all critical thinking skills.

P.S. Anyone that utters the term “blue MAGA” should be shunned and forgotten by society. Go fuck yourself.

There is no reason to honor these warrantless requests. The Bush Administration sent National Security Letters to them, demanding all this information without a warrant and threatening massive penalties if they told anyone. They had no legal basis to do such a thing, the constitution demands they get a warrant from a judge as laid out in the 4th amendment and calls anything in violation of the constitution to be illegal and unenforceable.

But the rot has been spreading for a half a century, the immune system of the Republic is haywire, we have autoimmune conditions, the immune system attacks healthy parts of the body.

America isn’t a country of laws anymore. The supreme court rubber stamps anything the administration wants to do, and the administration “declines requests from the judiciary”. You’ve got administration officials that don’t know what Habeas Corpus means, suspending Habeas Corpus. You’ve got a military openly/brazenly committing war crimes on the international scene (blowing up unverified “narco boats”/civilians). You’ve got a paramilitary gestapo-like force quite literally shooting citizens in the streets, your own government aiming to terrorize its people – which’s the whole point of the violent Ice operations targeting blue states.

But yeah, sure, Google and the big tech bros who have been supporting Trump’s actions throughout all of this will totally draw the line at disclosing data.

Nah, SCOTUS pushed back on Trump, first time around and this time as well. The administration had a solid run of Supreme Court wins for several months because they only brought cases they thought were slam dunks. Now that we’re getting into meaty subjects like birthright citizenship, the justices look to stand firm. Too little, too late, I know.

Oh yeah for sure, they have been for some time well before this administration as I understand it.

Facebook is even worse I believe. They allow the police and agents virtually unlimited reach into our lives without warrants. They don’t even charge the government to comply with their demands. ATT used to charge the government a lot of money for wiretaps and the like, and made them get warrants. Facebook they just have to ask and they bend over backwards for them.

Maybe facebook and google are guilty on other fronts which makes them susceptible to betraying our freedoms here. Which is why you don’t allow such consolidation in the first place but too late now our courts are captured as well as the regulators and they won’t break up the trusts, not without a new muscular populist government on a full fledged campaign.

How does the security of non-android mobile linux compare to GrapheneOS? Is there anything that gets even remotely close to Graphene in terms of fascist government agencies being unable to access the phone’s contents if it’s shut down or locked properly?

That’s my next stop probably. Been on degoogled Android for many years and loved it. But vendors have started locking down their bootloaders (fuck you, Samsung!), Google has made moves to make life harder in Android for custom ROM devs and sidesloaders alike, so it’s only a matter of time until they’ll go full Hitler on it. So: Go, penguin, go!

The cloud act requires a warrant, this is them just demanding access.

“The CLOUD Act primarily amends the Stored Communications Act (SCA) of 1986 to allow federal law enforcement to compel U.S.-based technology companies via warrant or subpoena to provide requested data stored on servers regardless of whether the data are stored in the U.S. or on foreign soil.”

Apple generally makes more of a show of opposing the government. They traditionally will file court suits challenging stuff. Not to say they don’t fold, just that they make a show of resisting, as they should it’s dumb of google to fold, and they only are because they don’t have enough competition, and have with other companies captured governments and regulators and courts.
